Way back in January (haha, January!) we booked a Spring Break trip with our good friends the Morrisons to Punta Cana, staying at the beautiful Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real resort. Since we obviously aren't actually taking our actual trip, I'm going to go ahead and take the trip virtually right the hell here. Here we go!
We left early this morning out of BWI, traveling on SW, and since tomorrow is my birthday, they gave me free champagne on the flight out! Also, pretzels. We arrived at the Punta Cana airport and walked out through the lovely thatched roof buildings straight to the private shuttle we had booked for the short drive to the resort.
The drive was awesome! They gave us cold beers for the drive and we chatted with the friendly driver about the Dominican Republic and the beautiful weather, and absolutely nothing whatsoever about pandemics and death and bullshit things like that.
Once we arrived at the resort, we were stunned with both the amazing decor and the super friendly service! We had our own special area of the lobby to check in and were given refreshing drinks to enjoy as they told us all about the resort. They smiled and marked down that it was my birthday tomorrow, I wonder what that means. :)
Then we were shown to our room, and wow! It's really nice. We have our own backyard garden with a jacuzzi tub overlooking the flowers and trees and a lovely palupa under which we plan to spend a good portion of the vacation kicking back and not thinking about the ridiculously familiar and tomb-like confines of our house back home in any way, shape or form.
Well, that's all so far! We've had a lovely lunch poolside and now we're going to sun ourselves for a while until it's dinner time. Tonight we're just going to do the buffet and spend some time at the beach bar. Haha, "some time"...we will be spending a rehab-worthy amount of time at the beach bar drinking every single drink we cannot mix at home, where we are definitely not spending all the time at right now! Looking forward to a whole week in paradise! More tomorrow!
